Children are the heart and soul of our business, and we are committed to keeping them safe and helping them in times of need. Toys"R"Us, Inc. and the Toys"R"Us Children’s Fund together focus charitable giving primarily on national organizations, to better centralize our philanthropic efforts. These national partners, in turn, allow us to help countless local charities in the communities we serve. If your group is similar in focus to any mentioned below, please direct your requests to that national organization, as all of our support in these areas will be centralized with these partners:
- During the holiday season, we partner with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to provide toys and baby products to families facing poverty.
- Outside of the holiday season, all other product donations are coordinated through Kids in Distressed Situations, which, in turn, supports homeless shelters, foster-care facilities, hospitals, clinics, relief organizations, and others.
- Disaster relief for hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, flooding, wildfires and other similar events are coordinated through global relief organization Save the Children.
- Autism-related support is centralized with Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to funding global biomedical research for autism and raising public awareness about the disorder and its effects on individuals, families and society.
- AIDS-related funding is directed to Children Affected by AIDS Foundation, which provides support programs for children impacted by HIV/AIDS in the United States.
- Support for hospitals across the country is managed through our partnership with Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. Together we help provide much-needed playtime for sick children through hospital playrooms.
In addition, please note the following restrictions:
- We cannot offer grants or product donations to individuals or to families directly. We can only give to tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations as defined by IRS Code 501(c)(3).
- We will not support programs that do not focus their efforts on children's issues.
- We will not offer grants to individuals or groups for religious purposes.
- We will not support capital expenditures, political or partisan programs, national ceremonies, memorials, conferences, fundraising dinners or lunches, testimonials or similar events.
- We will not support organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation.
If you believe your organization falls within the parameters set forth above, we welcome your request for a grant or product donation. All donations must be made in writing 90 days prior to the date in which the donation is needed. A dedicated email has been created for easy, fast submission and review of all requests. Please email TRUCF@toysrus.com with the following information:
- TAX ID: Your tax ID number and the state where you are formally registered as a not-for-profit/tax exempt organization as defined by IRS Code 501(c)(3) .
- SUMMARY: A 200-word targeted summary about your organization, including what you do, who you help, and where you receive your primary funding.
- REQUEST: Your specific request (product or grant, the specific amount needed) and why the request is needed at this time.
- WHO WILL BENEFIT: Who your request will help, including the age range of children who will benefit.
- WEBSITE: Link to your organization’s website.
- Please do NOT send attachments of any kind.
We evaluate every request. If we feel there is a potential opportunity, we will likely request additional information and documentation. If not, we will email you a formal note declining your request. Either way, organizations will receive a response.
In the event of a large-scale crisis or emergency situation only (such as a hurricane, fire, flood, earthquake or other natural disaster), organizations may call our donation hotline at 973-617-5350. While we will, in most cases, coordinate our efforts through Save the Children (as mentioned above), we appreciate early notice of any local or regional events.
